Grand Princess (Caribbean) - Jan 15th - 22nd, 2007

January 15 - 22nd, 2007
Caribbean Cruise
Bob and Debe

On January 14th, 2007 an ice storm hit St. Louis as we fought feverishly to catch a plane and get to Texas. With no such luck we grabbed a hotel room across from the airport and headed back the next day.(January 15th, 2007) With a wing and a prayer, the skies opened for a short moment and a Southwest plane landed that they were able to empty and reload heading to Texas. What a lucky day for us. Off we went as we were to embark on a Caribbean Cruise away from this cold weather. The Grand Princess was sitting in port in Galveston, TX as we got there. What a beauty. Our itenary included these ports of calls: Costa Maya, MX; Roatan, Honduras; Belize City, Belize; and Cozumel, MX. All the ports we had visited at least once before and some - many times. So we would be using this as a relaxing trip - "bring on the hot temperatures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Our first stop on this caribbean cruise was at Costa Maya, Mexico. Costa Maya pretty much is a port that is built right at the dock. Ships do not have to tender in and you can walk right to the shopping area built for the ships. The port includes a pool, bars, stores, along with a small area for a Mexican show. We chose to rent the golf carts available and ride them down the road to the internet shop. From there we headed to Mahahual, Mexico by main road. A fun and great day.

On Jan. 16 we pulled into Roatan, Honduras. Since we were doing this cruise to get away from the cold weather of St. Louis - staying on the ship was a great alternative here. Here is the views from our balcony as we pulled into port.

Next stop on Jan 17, Belize City, Belize. We didn't really do much here but found the internet in town. Belize isn't a port of call that we love. Maybe next time we'll try just going to a beach.

On most Caribbean cruises, you can expect to go to the #1 caribbean port - Cozumel, MX. On the right is a picture of me with Cozumel behind me. This was our last stop, Jan 18th before a day at sea and back to Galveston, TX

The following pictures are the pools and activities on the ship. Nothing like a big screen by the pool to watch the latest movies out. And always a way to get plenty of exercise.

All ships are famous for their big dessert - Baked Alaska On Parade. Here is our waiter on the Grand Princess as he shows the Baked Alaska dessert while they all march around the dining room.

There is nothing better than sunsets on cruises (except for sunsets on islands. lol)

Just another wonderful, relaxing, Caribbean cruise. Nothing like finding a chair by the pool, soaking up the rays, and being waited on. Isn't that what cruises are all about. Thanks for joining us on a relaxing trip away from the cold.

The End
